The same can be said about business. Businesses have the obligation to keep up with the times to ensure its survival. Social media has been the saving grace for a lot of businesses that perhaps don’t have millions of dollars to spend on advertising. It’s not uncommon for a business to have a website, a Twitter feed and a Facebook page, but what about an Instagram account? Is an Instagram account necessary?
A #Hashtag Paints a Thousand Words?
I am a firm believer that a picture paints a thousand words. What could those thousand words say about your business? Whether you provide a service, or produce an item, you need to be able to reach a varied audience quickly.
The first step would be to plan “hashtags” that would best describe your business. A “hashtag” is a word or a phrase that is preceded by the pound symbol (#). For example, if you are a shoe aficionado, you may explore the hashtag #shoes or even, #shoeaficionado.
Notice that when using a phrase instead of just a word in your hashtag, there are no spaces. These hashtags serve as hyperlinks to unite followers to the topics that interest them. It’s a great way to explore and discover accounts that may have normally been ignored. Hashtags are a great way to drive traffic towards your account and ultimately to your website. You build a following and then those followers have followers that may ultimately follow you.
It sounds like a lot of work and it is. A lot of companies are now hiring persons whose sole job is to promote and market the business via social media. It’s a worldwide market that never sleeps and all you need is the right connection.
