If you’ve got a business page on Facebook, there’s no doubt you already know the benefits of video marketing. Videos not only get a whole lot of play (no pun intended) on the social media giant, but they also encourage more comments, likes and interaction.

Well, now there’s even more reasons to love Facebook videos. The granddaddy of all social media platforms announced this week that users will now be able to restrict who can see posted videos by age and gender; this means businesses will be able to tailor their marketing videos to specific audiences.

Have you ever had the perfect idea for a video but thought it catered too much to one audience and not another? Well, now you won’t have to worry about the wrong demographic seeing your post. When you upload the video, you’ll simple refine the parameters by selecting the age range and gender you want to give viewing ability to.

Secret Videos

Along with this new feature, Facebook is also enabling “secret” videos: those that are only viewable by a direct link. This means Facebook will host your video without making it visible to all of your friends or fans. This could be a great option if you’re looking to target specific customers within an email blast or direct message campaign. This feature also enables users to turn off third-party embedding and opt to house videos only under the “video” tab (not in the newsfeed).

You might not know that Facebook already provides language and location options for video uploads, so the sky is really the limit when it comes to targeting your video marketing to specific audiences.
