When it comes to doing well on search engine results of any kind, the search engines themselves need assurances that a site is genuine and not an affiliate marketer or worse, a SPAM site. If a search engine is assured a site is a real and genuine destination on the World Wide Web, it will reward the site with better rankings on their search engine results. Letting search engines, as well as the rest of the online world, know a website is owned and run by a legitimate business, or other entity is fairly easy and doesn’t require a great deal of prepared content.
About Half of All Content Should Have Keywords
When it comes to updating websites, keyword-rich articles are important, but only about half as important as many think. Instead of a site that is laden with all print content in the form of articles and various blog posts, many SEO experts say only about half of the content should target keywords. Another 40 percent should be made up of group-specific posts, such as photos from an office party, staffing announcements and even a joke of the day or similar regular and light-hearted postings. Popular “Throwback Thursday” posts are examples of such content. The remaining 10 percent of content should be made up of things that are completely off topic, such as staff picks for favorite current movies or weekend football game-winner picks — done strictly for entertainment purposes.
Unique and Personal Content Helps Set Sites Apart
When search engines can detect a lot of photos, videos and media of office parties, philanthropic efforts, like participating in Habitat for Humanity, or doing any other interesting and fun things that can be posted online, the corresponding sites get a big boost in authenticity. It’s impossible to copy such types of content, and making regular multimedia posts, and other content aimed at more than just keywords can help sites and their owners a great deal.
