If you’re like the rest of us, you’re probably busy counting your blessings this week. And with Thanksgiving around the corner, there’s no better time to reflect on everything you’re thankful for.
Well, around here, we’ve got one big reason to be grateful, and that’s WordPress. As WordPress developers, we’ve seen how easy and dynamic the WordPress platform is and, more importantly, what it can do for our clients. Here are just a few reasons to be thankful for it:
1. Plugins, Plugins, Plugins
All we want for Christmas this year is plugins – and more plugins. We love WordPress for the ease with which you can add new functionality to a site by installing a plugin. This makes WordPress the ultimate dynamic site because you can add elements quickly and easily, like an RSS feed, a searchable directory, a shopping cart… the options are endless.
2. Automatic Updates
We love using WordPress because we know that it’s managed by some seriously smart, seriously on-the-ball people. That means that the platform is constantly being tested and used, and any issues are quickly resolved with automatic updates. This is super important if you’re worried about security – and these days, we all have to be.
3. Custom Cascading Style Sheets
CSS might seem like an obscure acronym to you, but to us, custom cascading style sheets are something to be thankful for. That’s because it enables us to build a theme on top of another theme, rather than taking the design from scratch. This makes it easy to add content elements anytime.
4. Galleries
Creating an image gallery in WordPress is easier than it’s ever been before. While you might have to be a WordPress developer to really appreciate this feature, you’ll be grateful for the ease with which you can systematically upload images into the WordPress editor for use at any time. Drag and drop? We love it!
5. Support Forum Volunteers
The WordPress community is pretty awesome. We’re grateful that being WordPress developers does not mean working in a vacuum. The support forum volunteers are always ready and willing to get down and dirty on a project or offer some helpful advice.
You know we are grateful for WordPress! Are you using it? If not, it’s time to find out what all the hype’s about!
