Social Media Campaigns for Thanksgiving

It’s November, and that means it’s the most wonderful time of the year!

Unless you’re a turkey, that is.

If you’re looking to get a little festive with your social media marketing – and you should – go for it! Here are 6 ways to work the upcoming holiday into your Thanksgiving social media marketing efforts:

Work the Parade

Obviously, Macy’s has hit a goldmine with its Thanksgiving parade. You can get in on the marketing bandwagon, too, by leveraging the parade for your own social campaign.

Think now about ways you can get your customers involved online. Give away tickets to the parade via an online contest, or offer up a prize for the first person to spot and socially share some element of the parade.

Get Social about Giving

It’s a great time of year to serve the community or raise money or other resources for charity.

You can engage with your customers and broaden your reach by incorporating a social media campaign around your fundraising efforts. If you’re holding a canned food or toy drive, for instance, create a  social media campaign encouraging and rewarding customers for donating.

Create a hashtag around a collection event and encourage participants to socially post in order to boost engagement and spread the word.

Get Cooking

When it comes to Thanksgiving, it’s all about the food, isn’t it?

Find out what’s on your customers’ tables this year by creating a campaign that asks customers to post “food porn” from their Thanksgiving kitchens. Consider giving prizes to the best-looking turkey or pie, or the most unique side dish.

Have fun with the categories; the sky is the limit!

Go Grateful

Gratitude is never out of fashion this time of year. And with Black Friday around the corner, it’s also a great time to start boosting sales.

Combine the two concepts by hosting a customer appreciation week or two, wherein you offer specific discounts or freebies for customers who engage with you online. For example, one day you could offer a discount for customers who check in on your Facebook page, or a two-for-one deal for customers who like your page or follow you on Twitter
